MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (UK based hybrid working) – Part-time, up to 4 days a week

Do you have a minimum of a year’s work experience in a marketing and/or communications role? 

We’re seeking a marketing professional to join our small, agile, and dynamic team, to help increase brand awareness and engagement with the charity to build income and support, as well as share compelling stories about our work.  

Pelorus Foundation works together with primarily African based grass-roots NGOs, to help empower local people to protect and preserve endangered wildlife and wild places and promote their work and voices to international audiences. 

This is a great opportunity to develop the role to make it your own. You will develop and deliver your marketing plan in line with our strategic plan and share your ideas and creativity to help build engagement with our environmental and conservation charity brand.

The role is UK based, and you must already have the right to work in the UK as we are unable to sponsor international applicants. It’s also a hybrid role, working three or four days a week. However, you will be required to be in the London office once a week, so you need to live within a commutable distance.

Core Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and deliver a marketing plan and execute marketing and communications activities to build awareness and increase engagement, support and income generation.
  • Create compelling stories and use digital marketing, your ideas and creativity to support fundraising and brand development.
  • Write and design marketing materials and content to promote our project partners, fundraising activities, appeals, and events.
  • Create and schedule engaging social media content, online ads and e:newsletters.
  • Film and edit promotional videos and provide video resources for events.

Skills:

  • Strong written English with good grammar, able to adjust tone
  • Proficient in use of digital/social media, including social media planning tools
  • Excellent knowledge of how social media is used as part of an integrated marketing approach
  • Experienced in Adobe design suite (ie. InDesign, Photoshop)and website CMS (WordPress)
  • Video content creation and editing experience.
  • Creative thinking and research skills.
  • Good organisation and time management, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and confident with good interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Positive and enthusiastic can-do attitude.
  • A passion for the environment and the ability to convey this to our audiences in a compelling way.

EVENTS PLANNER (UK based, hybrid working)

The Pelorus Foundation and Pelorus team are looking for an Events Planner with at least two years’ experience, to join our team. You will be working closely with a fast moving, dynamic team and with suppliers to plan extraordinary events. The job involves planning events for Pelorus, a bespoke travel company, as well as us, the Pelorus Foundation charity.

Skills:

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • The ability to perform well under pressure and remain calm in crisis situations
  • The ability to multitask, as the job often requires dealing with multiple partis and task concurrently
  • Attention to detail to ensure that every aspect of an event is perfect
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on their feet
  • Strong negotiation skills to effectively deal with suppliers and contractors
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, as the job constantly involves working with people
  • Comfortable working with budgets

At least two years’ experience planning and hosting successful events.
