Since 2018, their expert team has worked in partnership with governments and organizations across Africa to create tailored solutions that address the systemic challenges of wildlife crime.

By embedding experienced law enforcement professionals, providing advanced technical training, and fostering intelligence-sharing systems, our new partner empowers local agencies to achieve lasting and meaningful results. With a proven track record of success, focusing its efforts on following up on live animal trafficking.

Seasoned professionals focused on law enforcement

Focused Conservation’s team comprises seasoned professionals from renowned law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and UK National Crime Agency.

These experts bring decades of experience in dismantling organized crime networks and apply this knowledge to combating wildlife crime.

Their operational focus spans Uganda, Nigeria, Liberia, and Kenya, with an emphasis on locally tailored yet globally informed solutions.

Additionally, our partner has leveraged its trusted government contacts and extensive law enforcement liaison work in South Africa to build strong partnerships and tackle wildlife crime networks across the continent.

Wildlife crime is fueled by corruption, weak legislation, and insufficiently trained law enforcement.

Many African nations serve as both source and transit points for trafficked wildlife, parts, and products, with high demand from private collectors and zoo facilities. The illegal wildlife trade, (valued at billions of dollars annually), threatens biodiversity and destabilizes ecosystems.

As a partner of the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife program, Focused Conservation manages intelligence-sharing systems that connect over 300 members from private, governmental, and conservation sectors. This collaboration enhances global efforts to disrupt trafficking trends and provides our partner with unparalleled access to information and resources.

The baby chimp below was recently intercepted and rescued mid-trafficking. Like other animals saved by Focused Conservation, he has now found refuge in a safe sanctuary, where he will stay until he is ready to be reintroduced into the wild.
